Warriors to Guardians: Changing The Culture of Policing

The National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers will present a three-day training session entitled From Warriors to Guardians: Changing The Culture of Policing at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 9000 Bartram Ave., Philadelphia, PA, October 22-24, 2019.

This training, hosted by the Guardian Civic League, will involve the acquisition of effective communication and active listening skills, as well as other community-policing related techniques, designed to enhance and improve the relationships between community members and their law enforcement guardians.

Participants will receive instruction through both lectures and panel discussions designed to be of interest to both law enforcement personnel and their community partners. Featured workshops will cover such issues as “Eliminating Microaggressions To Enhance Police-Community Engagement; Fair and Impartial Policing Through Understanding Implicit Bias; Officer Wellness-Everyone’s Responsibility; An Anatomy of A Fatal Use of Force; Active Shooter; Breaking the Silence on Law Enforcement Suicides”, and other topics designed to provide law enforcement officers with greater tools, knowledge and skills for interacting with people, particularly in communities of color. Early registration for this program is at the rate of $200.00, per person, until August 31, 2019. Thereafter, regular registration is $250.00 per person, and is open to all members of law enforcement, community groups, businesses, organizations and institutions. Registration fees cover the costs of program materials, a continental breakfast, lunch and certificate of attendance. This program is only available to the first 75 registrants. Due to facility limitations, the Active Shooter workshop is only available to the first 32 registrants.
